Wu Tang vs. The Beatles :: Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers
HOLY FUCK DUDE. My love for The Beatles, and my respect for the Wu Tang Clan has just been amplified by 34873872914 watt[z]! Click on the first photograph to download this beautiful piece of work. My music soul just creamed itself...
Nothing like waking up to a phone call that tells you you're late! Yes! I overslept, but all order was restored when I ferociously rode my bike to the station, making it 5 minutes before show time. Ah, thank you strong legs! So this week was remix week. Lots of dance jams -- even songs like Wood by Bon Iver can be turned into a dance song! Oh, the possibilities are endless...

It's out, you know what to do. Also, as a little treat:
A couple notes that I can't help but mention. One, I don't know how I feel about her bassist's backing vocals. Way too prominent and totally an overkill in 'Joints,' but I have to admit his voice fits quite nice in 'Waves.' On the topic of 'Waves,' it felt a little too rushed. Was it the drums? Was it on purpose? Why??? It's so beautiful when it's slow and paced. Also, it's pretty hot/cute when Holly and Tim face each other every time go into a guitar riff. My love for loop pedals is reaffirmed after 'Pelican Rapids.' Granted she isn't making her own melody, since she's aided by her backing band, but it's a fucking sweet song. The lyrics are superb - as they are on all her other songs - and the build-up is just so momentous and powerful. Seriously dudes, she's good.
----
Also, just because I feel like posting more videos.
Can you say dance party? I was here, and it was DEFINITELY a dance party.
I cannot, for the sake of my well being, look away from this video.
Today seemed less tiring. Perhaps I'm building a higher tolerance for the lack of sleep, and the toil of riding my bike so early in the morning, or maybe it's now just a matter of habit that I've acquired after 5 (?) weeks. Either way, today was a rad show. Stay tune next week for our remix show -- I've got lots of good ole remixes ready for you young folks to dance to!

Friendly Fires :: Paris [Aeroplane Remix ft. Au Revoir Simone] It is seriously like a dance party in my room right now. I need to move to Paris as soon as possible and get away from the Americas!
Also, it's hard to decide. Do I like the song more, or do I like the golden Paris Hilton more? Life always throws these hard questions at me when I least expect it. Sheeez
I saw these dudes a couple of years ago, and I fell in love. Chris Chu [the lead singer] caught my eye with his pink button up and awkward guitar dance, but THIS, this video solidified my love. Goodness gracious, this is fucking fantastic.
So I've been a fan of Holly Miranda since her days in The Jealous Girlfriends, and I was jumping balls when she started releasing solo material which are beyond anything she's put out with TJG. It's a move away from simply just rock to a sound that's dreamy, ethereal, and with a hint of jazz. Not to mention, her voice is amazing. Think of Fiest, Cat Power and Norah Jones all rolled up into one. Think of the female counterpart to Jeff Buckley. Think of those, and you've barely scratched the surface of what and who Holly Miranda is. Her album The Magician's Private Library, produced by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio, is due out on February 23, 2010, and all I can say is: GO FUCKING GET IT.
Holly Miranda :: Joints
Holly Miranda :: Forest Green Oh Forest Green
Holly Miranda :: Ænema [Tool cover] + Interview Dig it.
[EDIT]
Holly Miranda ft. Kyp Malone :: Slow Burn Treason -- On the Road with Holly Miranda I thought this would be a pretty rad add
"I remember making love on a Sunday like throwing hearts in a fresh cut grass in May woah I remember making out on the airplane Still afraid of flying, but with you I'd die today woah I remember the smell of your skin forever Love us being stupid together"
Click here to read John-douche-bag-Mayer's interview with Playboy. Not only does he have a racist dick, but he also loves to kiss and tell! Oh, and he's also a fan of porn and masturbation. Who needs sex now-a-days? What a dream date. Seriously though, this dude needs to think before he talks - or just shut up - because the stuff that comes out of his mouth is ridiculous.
Because I couldn't choose between the two, you get two songs today. Both these songs are off the new Yeasayer album 'Odd Blood' which came out this Tuesday (02/09/10). Currently these two are my favorite tracks off the album, which as a whole is spectacular and worth checking out.
Hello world! This week our play-list consists of songs and/or artists who have an animal in the name. Unfortunately, the recording we made was deleted off the Desktop, and we were unable to retrieve it. I highly recommend all of these bands so don't be shy, and use the YouTube to find these songs!!

So we've been pretty much neglecting this baby. Not because we want to, but because we're too fucking busy as of late. What kind of lame excuse is that? Mothers don't abandon their babies regardless of how busy they are. Fuck, we're bad parents. Anyways, to make up for the past 5 days of neglect, I will over stuff this post with songs that I'm currently "jamming" to.
Lightning Dust::Antonio Jane; History; I Knew -- I usually don't like voices that are so shaky, but damn this is the sound of vulnerability to the max. I've been a fan of 'I Knew' for a while now, but I'm currently obsessing over 'Antonio Jane. This is my calming music for when I feel like loving something.
Broken Bells::The High Road -- This is a collaboration between the Jack Mercer, the front man of The Shins, and producer Danger Mouse. Pretty sick stuff, but then again, I'm bias as fuck when it comes to anything related to The Shins.
Fences::Same Tattoos -- Don't be fooled by his tattooed body and plugs, and expect a raging rock out song. This man is as soft as a baby's bottom, and sings songs equally as mellow and heartbreaking.
Holly Miranda::Ex-Factor -- Three of my favourite things smashed into one. Holly Miranda and Lauryn Hill and the song 'Ex-Factor.' You can't really deny her talent. You can't really deny how good this song is. You can't really deny how I'm right when I say this is fucking amazing.
Royksopp ft. Fever Ray::What Else is There? -- Karin Dreijer Andersson of Fever Ray is the Lady Gaga of Sweden, but perhaps without all the flashy publicity. In fact, she recently accepted an award at the Swedish Awards Show and freaked everyone the fuck out. No joke. Click here to watch it. And as for Royksopp. Two dudes with a band name that means "puff ball" in Norwegian. Doesn't need anymore explanation.
Juliana Everyday::Wake Up -- It's dangerous covering a really good band, especially when you're a 'nobody' (not a bad thing) and posting videos on Youtube, but damn, this is a good cover.
Taken by Trees::My Boys -- This is the Taken by Tree's rendition of Animal Collective's 'My Girls.' I consider this the cute version, but not quite as superior as the original. Then again, AnCo is pretty hard to top.
Holly Miranda & Scott Matthew::Between the Bars -- I feel like if you're going to cover someone like Elliott Smith, you better do it right, or else his fan club/cult will come and hunt you down. That, or you should just pay respectful homage to music's most beloved emo artist. I think this cover pays the right kind of respect to ES, I think he would dig this. Seriously though, this cover gives me chills. Especially Holly's part...2:18-3:15 give me the heebeejeebeeeees...
Neon Indian::Deadbeat Summer -- This makes me wish it was summer of '69. Yeah...Summer of '69...
Bishop Allen::Dirt on Your New Shoes -- Xylophones! I've always wanted to the learn how to play the xylophone properly. Anyways, good tune. Listened to this on the bus ride back, dug it.
Yeasayer::O.N.E. -- Saving the best for last. This song is SPECTACULARRRRR!! Sonically their sound has grown since their first album into a more cohesive, and at times jarring sound. Their sophomore album 'Odd Blood' drops tomorrow (02/09/2010) and I am so fucking excited. So far it's only February and I'm already seeing some amazing things in the music scene! Also, I'm linking the video to their first single off the album. It's called 'Ambling Alps.' The song is definitely worth listening to, and the video is soooo worth watching.
AMBLING ALPS (I can't embed the video, SO CLICK IT!!!)
That's all for now. Hopefully this makes up for the lack of posts recently!
